heads bowed, in silence

we remember them

only the tip

of a bayonet moon…

buried alive

unearthed in nightmares

my Grandfather’s Somme

lone bugler…

an extra polish

to Venus

pinpoint stars…

how the last post

for Jack Boyle, from the grand daughter you never lived to see.

    I feel like weeping.

A cold, exquisite galaxy made to fix an entire lost generation of young men – many of them mere boys – in memory.

Rest in peace, Jack Boyle. You are not forgotten.

    Truly beautiful, Claire.

      Brian and Kirsten,
Thank you, my friends…your presence in my life, beyond the reaches of poetry, is very much cherished.
